Dragon Puppets

Love dragons? Then Lithgow is the place to be this Halloween! Local paper artist Fiona Russell, from Mythika Studios, has been able to launch an exciting new community project to bring a little more magic to Main Street.

“We’re calling it our giant dragon street puppet project,” Fi says. “Although actually there will be two awesome puppets on parade! Due to the diverse range of ages taking part we’re building both a teen dragon and also an adult. Each group will be responsible for determining the colour and nature of their beast. How it moves, its personality and its appearance. Over 4 weeks we’ll build, decorate, then work together as a team to animate our creatures.”

Each participant will be responsible for a part of the beast – animating the head, hands, tail or wings. The dragon puppets will be a must-see feature of this year’s Halloween ‘parade of Fae’ on Saturday 26 October in Lithgow.
