|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 9:30 am, repeating until 18 September 2025

The Plinth Show comes to Lithgow !

From late July to Mid September 2025 at Seven Valleys Visitor Information Centre, Lithgow.

Arts Out West’s current Plinth Show is in Lithgow, featuring the work of Wiradjuri artist Brett Groves.

Paintings and ceramics by Brett Groves are on show in the downstairs gallery space at Seven Valleys Visitor Information Centre in Lithgow from now through to mid-September.

Brett Groves is a Wiradjuri artist living and working on Wiradjuri country at Lithgow. He runs Bilingarra Gallery at 80 Main Street, Lithgow.

The mini exhibition is called Ngayirr (a Wiradjuri word meaning sacred, mystery, secret).

Brett says of the work: “Each piece is a layered remembrance — a sacred echo of what once stood, what still whispers beneath the soil, and what must never be forgotten.”

Through Ngayirr, Brett Groves offers more than artworks – he offers a space for contemplation, grief, truth-telling, and reconnection.

“Art for me is more than expression — it is a deep remembering. It is my way of gently guiding people back to Country, back to story, back to the truth that has always been here. Through colour, shape, and shared experience, I seek to mend the long and painful disconnect that hundreds of years of disregard have created — a disconnection from our ancient Aboriginal history, our culture, our lore, and from the kindness we owe each other and this Earth,” Brett says.

Arts OutWest’s Plinth Show program puts work of local artists on portable plinths at a different visitor Information Centre around the Central West each month.
