‘Hilary Sims’

An emerging artist for just 3.5 years, Hilary Sims’ style of textures, patterns, and use of bold colours reflect a fully developed artist, whose fun and cheerful paintings are reminiscent of her quirky, yet confident and positive approach to life. Her paintings evoke emotions of excitement and curiosity, taking the viewer to a magical place. This retrospective exhibition is in honour of our wonderfully wacky mother, who we unexpectedly lost this past June. In October 2020, in a moment that can be only described now as serendipitous, Hilary transcribed her final wishes down on a note. Amongst a few other things such as “when you think of me remember to laugh”, she wrote upon her passing of her hope of an exhibition, so that her paintings would continue to be seen, inspire and be loved by many. A daughter’s love knows no bounds, and we are so grateful we can fulfill our beloved mothers final wish, a showcase of her life’s work. “Being an artist is a rollercoaster ride, but I wouldn’t change it for a second” Hilary Sims, November 2020 (Art Almanac Magazine Submission titled “If these walls could talk”) |
