KAY BAZLEY & APRIL WHITE
November 21 – 24
Artists Kay Bazley and April White come together for an exciting pop-up show weekend at Gang Gang gallery in Lithgow.
April White has just returned to Australia after completing a two month residency in Canada. While world travels are an important part of her inspiration, for now April is currently continuing to paint full-time from her studio in Newtown, Sydney. Back in Australia she continues to feel a deep connection with the bird life both in the city and in the Blue Mountains. With vibrant colours, layers of rich accents and bold geometric juxtapositions, the birds express freedom and courage as they navigate an ever-changing world.
Kay Bazley is a long term Blue Mountains resident whose artwork has varied significantly over the years. She originally focused on photography and printmaking. However over the past two decades she has been exploring sculptural forms using clay and welded steel. She draws inspiration for her work from a range of sources. As a social worker and teacher, she is drawn to the rawness of human emotion and how we experience life. And as a keen bushwalker and gardener, she is deeply affected by the beauty and fragility of the natural world.
